How can we obtain peace if all we hear and see are news of death, list of new cases, fake news, news of violence and discrimination of frontliners and patients?

It seems like the peace that we have is rob from us by all those negativities.

There is a good news that despite of all negativities in this world, we can still have peace.

  • Don’t worry about anything;
  • Instead, Pray about everything. Tell God what you need,
  • Thank Him for all He has done.

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus

– Philippians 4:6-7

Let us not worry instead pray and thank the Lord for everything.

May the peace of God that transcends all understanding be upon us and to the world.

“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You’d walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”

He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints
It was then that I carried you.”

In this time of isolation and quarantine, we felt different emotions just by watching news or browsing our social media accounts. We may feel hopeless, anger, sadness, anxiety and even exhaustion for everything going on around us. We ask where is God at this time? What is happening in the world? Why am I the one infected with the virus of all people? When will it end? How could we survive every single day? There may be so many questions running through our mind to the point that it gives us fear of uncertainty and fear of our future.

We may not have all the answers to all our whys at this point but there is something we can do in the midst of crisis that is, to rely and trust in God. There is nothing we can do for the things beyond our control. We can choose to trust who is in control in the midst of crisis.. There is a God who is in control of everything and a God who holds our future.

During the deliverance of Israelites out of Egypt, they journeyed in the desert to go to the promise land. In the midst of their travel, they experienced inconvenience, hunger and thirst but God never abandoned them. He gave water and food by sending manna from heaven so that they could survive. God is with them through their journey.

As the country face this crisis, let us hold on to God. Do not let fear and panic devour us instead let the Word of God fill us. Let the Word of God and His promises in our lives be our anchor and our strength.

“The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.

When they call on me, I will answer, I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.”

– Psalm 91: 14-15

No matter what troubles we face, God will be with us. God will provide for our needs. God will help us in this battle.

You are never alone in this battle.

“ Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours but God’s” – 2 Chronicles 20:15

Let us continue to remain in Christ and to pray for the world.

Hanggang Kailan

Kapag ika’y may pangangailangan?

(What is your relationship status?)

Ang relationship status mo ba ay single, in a relationship, MU( mutual understanding or malabong usapan?), single and ready to mingle or it’s complicated ba yan?

Many people have many ways of describing their relationship status. Some are worried to when their status will be “in a relationship”; while others are happy with their relationships. But, what about the most important relationship that we MUST have? Our relationship with GOD?

Are you happy in your relationship today that you forgot the one who created you, the one who wants to have a relationship with you?

Or the opposite that you are worrying too much, that you are busy looking for the right guy or girl in your life that you forget that there is someone who wants to have a relationship with you?

Or maybe, you are too busy on your career that you neglect to strengthen your relationship with God?

How is your relationship with GOD?

Is it similar to you relationships that you had today? Are you more busy looking for a relationship with a person rather than establishing first a relationship with God? Is it too hard to establish a relationship with God?

Everything comes from the ultimate source of life—GOD. We can be able to relate and love others because we experienced the love that comes from the Father. We were once separated from God because of our sins but He did something for it to be broken.

Most of the time the one who is at fault should initiate the restoration of a relationship. But God broke that, He didn’t want us to be eternally separated from him therefore, He did something so that the separation will not occur. In John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave up His only son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have an eternal life”.

Oo, clingy si Lord but ayaw niya na napipilitan tayo, kaya may free will.

It is your decision to respond the love of Christ for you. He is giving you a choice to stay or go far from Him. God did the most amazing way to have a relationship with you/us. He wants us to have a relationship with Him. God is continually doing his own ways so that you will be able to accept him, trust him, love him and depend on him. God wants you! He loves you! He doesn’t want you to see you go away from Him, to walk away from Him.

Like any other relationship, there is a need for a get to know stage. You need to know him and you need to spend time with him. The only difference is that relationship with God will last forever. And YES! May forever! People may abandon you, people may leave you, forget you, hurt you but God won’t. His love for you lasts forever. San ka pa?

God wants you and you can freely come to him no matter how hurt you are, no matter what you did. God will accept you with open arms. He wanted you to come to Him wholeheartedly and willingly to Him.

He saw how his son suffered in this world so that you and Him will have a relationship so that separation will be broken.

It is your time to decide before it is too late…

Jesus did not promise to change the circumstance around us. He promised great peace and pure joy to those who learn to believe that God actually controls all things.” – Corrie ten Boom

There are times that because of bad situations or unfavorable events in our lives, it is very hard to be happy and worship God with all we are. We look at the situation we are in rather than God who has overcome everything. We should never forget that GOD IS GOOD in every circumstances whether happy or sad. Whatever is happening in our lives, it is not a measure of how God loves us. His love never changes and His love cannot be measured by what we know. The only standard of how deep the love of God for us is that He sacrifice His son for us even if we don’t deserve it. There is so much to be thankful and to be happy for.

In the midst of pain, that is the time that we can witness how good God is, how he will lift us up in our situations and how he will reveal himself to us. This is the time where we can feel that God will never leave us even if we feel that we are fighting alone. We just have to trust God in all His ways and believe that everything will turn out to be good because He is in control.

REJOICE! in the Lord Always! – Philippians 4:4

Two weeks of exams with two exams per day in 12 days… and yes! This is life at medicine. This was our schedule for the last first two weeks of March and most of us called it “Death March”. I really don’t know how I survived those weeks because it is really impossible for me to read again all the lessons that we’ve had for the whole school year. It is impossible for me to stay awake for the whole week with just 1 hr or 2 hours of sleep. There came a time that even if I don’t want to sleep that I already drank coffee more than just a cup, my eyes and my body felt so heavy that I really wanted to have a good night sleep but I can’t, ‘cause if I do I’ll probably fail. Going back to what happened, I could say that it is not just the so called “death March” but a weeks of grace. Why? I’ve never finished all the handouts, I’ve never remembered all the important things that I need to retain in my memory, I’d fell asleep while reviewing especially during the middle of the week of the exams but God’s grace makes me in awe. I can proudly say that I survived that week not because of my own strength and intelligence but because of God’s grace. When I will look at my status on that day of the exam, maybe I will not pass but because of God being with me during the exams, I was able to pass.

Most of the time when we look at our own strength and abilities, we felt frustrated on the things that we can’t accomplish. Why do we have to be this way? Why can’t we be like him/her? But we have to remind ourselves that, we don’t have to always look on what we can do but we have to look up because we have a greater God. Greater than everything and we can rely on Him all the time.

Our limited capabilities and weakness is good. Why? Because it is the time that we experience how God supply as with the strength that we need. I love what Catherine Marshall said “Crisis brings us face to face with our inadequacy and our inadequacy in turn leads us to inexhaustible sufficiency of God”. It is true! When we’re weak God will make us strong! I remembered a verse that says”

“Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12: 7-8

It is in our weakness that we can see, experience and witness how amazing God’s grace is in our life.

It is by Your grace where I am right now.

Words are Powerful

It was November 19, 2013, when I and my group mates had our preceptorial in my neurology class. We were given a particular patient wherein we had to perform correctly a specific neurologic exam and know its principles. Our preceptors who are neurologists were there to ask and grade us. While my group mate was explaining about the test, he was mentioning terms which are insignificant to that particular test, and then our preceptor reminded us to be careful in our words. At that point, I remember a verse on the Bible which says that words are powerful. Just as how we should be careful in choosing our words in reporting our clinical findings, it is also the same in our everyday life.

Delivering our clinical findings will affect the patient’s health or could mean misinterpretation of what we want to say especially when endorsing the patient. Miscommunication of a very small detail in the status of the patient’s health could lead to worsening of his health.

It is the same with what comes out of our mouth in terms of building relationships. Words can build or destroy relationships. That is why we should be careful in releasing words that we want to say especially when we were at the verge of our emotions. Words spoken could never be taken back. It will stay to the person once it comes out of our mouth.

Be careful with your words.

Bless others through your words instead of destroying relationships.

The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.

Waiting……………Many of us are waiting for many things. Maybe waiting for some called “the right one”, promotion at work, grades, ambition to be fulfilled, calls etc… whatever we are waiting for, we are unsure when or what will be the result.

While I was waiting for the release of my grades in med school, it was killing me ‘cause I didn’t know what to expect. Will I smile after or will I just cry? For the answer, I didn’t know. I never thought that waiting will be hard like that. The feeling that I want to skip the days, so that day will happen. The day when I was always checking my email account if the grades are posted, then if there was none I will think “Is there something wrong with my email?” In those days, I was always checking our group page if there were updates from my classmates. Sometimes, even if you don’t want to think about it, it will just suddenly came into mind and there you again panicking and worrying.

In my case I was just waiting for my grades and it already felt like that, how much more those people who are waiting for bigger things to come into their life. I bet their experiencing three times or even more of what I was feeling. But on the process of waiting, there were things that I learned: to lift everything to God. Worrying will never make our lives longer. Instead of worrying, the Bible reminds us in Matthew 6:32 ““So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Another thing, why shouldn’t we worry, if we know that God is in control of our lives? He holds our future. Whatever the result of our waiting, it is God’s will for us.

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)

Waiting will never be hard if we know who holds our future.

“Be still and know that I am God”

LOVE Never Gives Up

While I was watching Once upon a Time, this conversation reminded me of something:

Rumplestiltskin: After everything you’ve learned about me, after everything I’ve done. Why haven’t you given up on me?

Belle: I learned a long time ago that when you find something that it’s worth fighting for, you never give up.

At some point in our life, maybe we asked questions like this to God:

People: After all the sins I’ve done, why did you still accept me?

GOD: Because I love you

Yes, you read it right. God will accept you no matter how bad things you’ve done in the past and no matter how shameful it is. God is a forgiving and loving father. He always look at you as a person worth fighting for. That is what He did on the cross. God looks at you as valuable and precious which enables HIM to sacrifice His own son for you.

John 3:16 says For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

If He really thinks that you’re unworthy, maybe God didn’t send His only son for the people to be saved. If He really gave up on you, maybe the cross will not exist. But He did it for only one reason- GOD LOVES YOU.

His love never gives up on you…

1 Corinthians 13:7

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Faith and Promise

Every year people are making their New Year’s resolution but most of the time they failed to do those resolutions. I have tried making resolutions but I failed doing all of that throughout the year.

Just as we wanted to change something good for ourselves, God has also better things in store for us. He has given us promises in our lives.

In this year, believe for those promises that God had put in your life.  Continue to have faith that God’s promises will be fulfilled in His perfect time. Remember that God is a promise keeper. You just have to trust and believe that God will move in your life.

“Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep His promise” –  Hebrews 10:23

God gave a promise to Abraham that he will be a father of all nations and he will have a child. Indeed, God kept His promise. “This happened because Abraham believed in God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing” – Romans 4:17

“So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift” – Romans 4: 16

As we wait for the fulfillment of promise, people may respond in these ways:

  1. Relying on their own strength and resources so that what they want will happen
  2. Wait and Pray for it to happen even it is impossible

What is Abraham’s response when God told him that he will be a father of many nations?

“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured that his body was as good as dead and so was Sarah’s womb”  – Romans 4:18-19

Faith is the key for the fulfillment of God’s promise in our lives. Let us hold on to those promises and be like Abraham while we are waiting for God.

“Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger and in this he brought glory to God” – Romans 4:20

If God was able to do it during those times, it is not impossible for it to happen in your own life.

For God is the same yesterday, today and forever…
